Check out the Superformance GT MKII A, a recreation of the original that beat the Ferrari and finished in the top three positions at Le Mans in 1966. In developing the exhilarating SPF GT40, engineers went to great lengths to ensure authenticity. More than 90% of the parts are interchangeable with the original car including the "monocoque" style chassis. It's so authentic, it can legally be called a "GT40". The GT40 Continuation also carries the GT40 "P" chassis number and is eligible for the GT40 registry. Superformance currently offers the MKI and MKII GT40 continuation models which are available in right and left hand drive. The Continuation GT40 is true to the original 40-inches in height, but you don't actually sit in a GT40, you lie in it. There is an optional Gurney bubble for the taller driver. The driver's seat is slightly wider than the passenger's and the gauge layout is very racer-like with the speedometer mounted off to the side. The instrument panel is similar to the original. The pedal lay out favors street driving and the pedal box is adjustable. A high capacity air conditioner was added and to make it look original, Superformance incorporated the air conditioning unit into a dry sump look-a-like in the original position. Original style seats are covered in Alcantara and incorporate the traditional silver rivets. The GT40 continuation has an original style monocoque chassis, original suspension lay out and a pressed steel roof, configured to the original specifications and designs. Superformance opted for a more efficient cross flow radiator, modern Wilwood brakes and custom Bilstein shocks with H & R springs. The headers are like the original "Bundle of Snakes". Both models leave the factory as complete rolling chassis, complete in every way except for the engine, clutch, and transaxle. The recommended power source is a specially prepared Roush engine with the new RBT/ZF style 5-speed transaxle but owners also have the option to fit a Ford-based 289, 302, or 351W small block or 427 big block (MKII only) engine. Now all you need to do to complete your Le Mans Legend is add your power choice (big or small block) with a ZF/RBT transaxle, and prepare yourself for extreme satisfaction, performance and the ultimate in styling. |
